Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a way to help the body balance. What that means is if it is pain relief you are seeking the use of acupuncture may assist in providing relief and or allowing you to do the activities you love to do.

Acupuncture is also well studied for relief of sx’s related to nausea, eczema, asthma, anxiety, PTSD, depression, ADHD, insomnia, infertility, constipation, osteo-arthritis and so much more. Acupuncture works synergistically with other therapy modalities you may already been having. Acupuncture can also be used for cosmetic purposes with facial acupuncture. In Children acupuncture can aide in many of the above mentioned as well as infant colic, juvenile arthritis, autism, frequent infections and more.

In my practice I use other therapies as well such as cupping, electro-acupuncture, aroma-puncture,auriculotherapy, Korean Hand Technique, Gua sha, Tui na, and nutrition response testing.

Acupuncture for Children

Why treat children of all ages with acupuncture ? We are now living in a world where the rise in diseases and ill health physically and mentally is taking its toll on our children. Children are afflicted with obesity, asthma, eczema, abdominal pain and constipation, ADHD, arthritis, auto-immune disorders, pain syndromes and so many more. Ill health of our children has rapidly risen in the last few decades. Children of all ages can benefit from acupuncture.

Both regular acupuncture and other modalities from TCM ( traditional Chinese Medicine) can aide to restore balance to your child’s body and mind. Acupuncture is a safe, medication free, and natural way to allow your child to thrive.

Check out my video on pediatric acupuncture to see how children respond.

Facial Acupuncture

Facial acupuncture treatment consist of an initial program of two treatments per week for 5 week and then, depending on the result we extend the time frame out from there. If you are dealing with pain or another health issue most of the time I am working on that in addition to adding the facial component.

Here are a few good health results that can occur with cosmetic acupuncture.

  • Facial acupuncture improves elasticity through the collagen and elastin matrix
  • Improved state of the dermis
  • Skin gets softer and more vibrant
  • Improvement of skin conditions such as acne, and rosacea
  • Improved complexion
  • Reduction in fine lines
  • Age spots fade age spots fade
  • Beginnings of jowls can be minimized
  • Skin tone becomes more consistent, redness reduces
  • Wrinkles in the décolletage can disappear
  • Reduction in puffiness
  • Deeper lines can ‘fill up’ and look less harsh
  • Facial acupuncture can also aide with TMJ pain, post stroke sx’s, Bell’s palsy

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy can be used as a stand alone therapy or in conjunction with many other modalities. The oils and hydrosols used are therapeutic grade generally organic and or fair trade. Essential oils can provide evidenced based relief for such common ailments such as Analgesia, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial.

Nutrition Response Testing – NRT

Treatments from the inside out reveal a healthier YOU!

Many times it is the combination of efforts that bring about the optimal result. I often employ the non-invasive methodology of NRT to discern what a patient is deficient in or what is taxing the body and keeping it from reaching a restored balance. Often it may be the food we are eating that is in fact eating us and keeping us unwell.

‘ the combination of NRT and acupuncture helped me get my blood sugars back to normal’

‘ I used to have issues with pain in my body and learning what foods to avoid and learning what foods to eat really helped me’

‘ every year I used to get sick not matter what I did and then I had acupuncture and learned what foods were making me sick…….’

Non-Invasive Acupuncture Techniques

Cupping/Moxabustion

Cupping

Cupping is a great way to aide in pain relief both acute and chronic pain also digestive or respiratory issues. Cupping is a wonderful modality for pediatrics.

Gua sha – also good the any of the above. using a gua sha tool such a jade or bian stone.

Moxibustion

Involves the use of the herb mugwort. Commonly aides in pain relief, arthritis, digestive issues and whole body strengthening. Common types of moxa used include spray, ointment, sticks, and dried herb.

Shonishin

This is a wonderful non-invasive style of acupuncture/acupressure that uses specific techniques and tools to guide the body back to balance. Though used traditionally on babies and young children it can also be used on other age groups as well. Treatment methods generally include a type of tapping, rolling along different meridians to aide in balancing the body.

Often the children become very relaxed during the treatment and sometimes the babies drift off to sleep. It is useful for treatment of both acute and chronic conditions and also used for wellness techniques.

Ear seeds and Auriculotherapy

The ear is a microcosm of the whole body. Ear seeds used are either with vaccaria seeds, or metallic silver or gold pellets and are affixed to the ear with tape. These supply a small bit of constant pressure to the area. When they are pressed more stimuli is supplied and can be a standalone treatment or used alongside other methods for many symptoms.

Common use for ear seeds are pain relief, PMS sx’s, insomnia, stress, addictions, weight control and more.

Korean hand therapy – KHT

Korean hand therapy

The use of hand pellets or stimulation to areas on the hand that coordinate to areas on the body that are affected by for example pain, stress, digestive issues and more.

Different metals on the pellets provide strengthening effects of calming effects.

Great use for pediatrics.
